Nana Robala - Sotho Baby Faerie

Small Watercolour Painting
Nana Robala - Sotho Baby Faerie

“To fit a South African theme I chose a Sotho baby sleeping gently against the petals of his cradle. The flower tilts with his weight but he remains securely ensconced. I added the lilac flower to add contrast and to balance the leaning flower and baby faerie.”

Nana Robala - Sotho Baby Faerie

A small, ethnic, flower-faerie is overcome with sleep. He nestles peacefully in his indigo cocoon. Nothing disturbs his gentle tranquillity, not even the gathering dew drops that are witness to the mild summer evening. All about him stillness rests on velvet petals. No sound, save the passing flight of twilight wings, is heard. Insects have stopped their business and retired in nightly respite.

Nana Robala slumbers on. He will awaken to smile at the dawn and with gurgles, greet his faerie realm.
