“I wanted to use a Hindu theme and decided to use the concept of Lord Krishna as
a young child - as he is often depicted. In keeping with my faerie babies I made
him a newborn baby – usually the most difficult age to paint.
The rich gold and red silks upon which his reed basket has been placed, hint at
the opulence and wealth that indicate his elevated and princely standing.”

Lord Krishna - the Baby
A beautiful boy-child was born to a mother in Prison. In time the baby Krishna was
rescued. He was carried high above his father’s head in a reed basket, through twirling,
swollen waters. Reaching the bank on the other side, father took small baby son
to safety. He was given into the loving care of a woman who became his second mother.
Glossy black hair curls across a dewy, blue-tinged forehead. Threading through curls,
pearls and priceless rubies reflect the intelligence in his dark eyes. He plays
contentedly with his flute, while softly around him folds richly coloured silk fabric.
