Kastor - Faerie Boy-child

Small Watercolour Painting
Kastor - Faerie Boy-child

“How would a newborn faerie snuggle into the compact centre of opening flower petals? I needed Kastor to look as though he was in a relaxed and sound sleep with his arms and legs are curled around him. His wings are the colour and texture of the flower that forms his crib.

I painted the blue sky above and below the flower to give the impression that this perfect faerie baby was being snugly cradled even though his flowery bed may sway gently in the breeze.”

Kastor: Faerie Boy-child

Cradled in indigo contentment, Kastor sleeps gently. The day is bright with summer warmth, but no breeze stirs the flowered container; no insect disturbs this placid rest.

Kastor’s transparently fragile wings, curling round his small body, are tinted with the flower’s hue. His hair shines with sunbeams. Tiny hands press against a downy cheek; arms and legs fold in newborn suppleness reflect his infant security.
